Coming into Canada from the United States is generally easy, but you do need to know a few key things. What You Need To Know About Bringing Your Dog(s) Into Canada
Vaccinations
There have been a number of questions regarding vaccinations required for dogs coming into Canada from the United States. Canada requires a current rabies vaccine for all dogs entering the country. A health certificate is not required for visiting dogs. You do not need to engage a third party "importer" or any company to help bring your dog(s) across the border by car. Note: it is not sufficient to state that your animal is too old or that your animal cannot be vaccinated. The specific reason must be explained.
The veterinary letter must:

be written in English or French

be recorded legibly

be issued on clinic letterhead

be issued and signed by the animal's regular licensed veterinarian

identify the animal (age, breed, sex, colour/markings, weight, and microchip/tattoo number)

identify the owner of the animal

have the name and signature of the licensed veterinarian that issued the letter and the date it was signed
Pet Food & Chews
The below links contain information on bringing pet food into Canada from the United States, as well as taking pet food back to the United States from Canada. These regulations are different! We recommend having your pet food in its original container and easily accessible in the event that border patrol would like to inspect it. Storing pet food bags label-side out is a huge help. If you are bringing raw food, please make sure your cooler is accessible. All meat and agriculture products MUST be declared at the border, regardless of which direction you are going.
